Worked example
Example: $3,000 biweekly gross, 10% contribution, 50% match on first 10%, 22% federal + 5% state + 7.65% FICA → $300 contribution, $150 employer match, take-home drops by less than $300 thanks to tax savings.
How it works
Enter gross pay per period, pay frequency, 401(k) contribution and employer match rates, and estimated tax rates. The calculator compares take-home pay with and without the contribution, showing tax savings and the effective cost of contributing.
