Frequently asked questions

How is MPG calculated?

Distance is end odometer minus start odometer. Miles per gallon equals distance divided by gallons of fuel used.

When should I record odometer readings?

For the most accurate fill-up mileage, record the odometer each time you fill the tank completely, and enter the gallons added at the current fill-up.

Is fuel price required?

No. Fuel price is optional. When provided, the calculator also estimates total fuel cost and cost per mile for the trip.
