How to Play Spider Solitaire
Spider Solitaire is a two-deck card game played with ten tableau columns. Your goal is to build eight complete sequences from King down to Ace in the same suit. When a full same-suit sequence is formed, it is removed from the board. Clear all eight sequences to win.
Spider Solitaire Rules
- Deal uses 104 cards across ten columns (six cards in the first four, five in the rest).
- Only the top card of each column starts face up.
- You may place a card on another card that is exactly one rank higher.
- Only same-suit descending runs can be moved together.
- Any card or valid sequence may move into an empty column.
- Stock deals are blocked while any tableau column is empty.
- There are five stock deals of ten cards each.
1 Suit vs 2 Suits vs 4 Suits
1 Suit is the easiest mode—every card shares one suit, so any descending run can move. 2 Suits adds real planning around suit matching. 4 Suits is the classic hard mode and rewards careful empty-column management.
Beginner Strategy
Prioritize revealing face-down cards. Prefer moves that extend same-suit sequences. Keep at least one empty column when possible—it is the most powerful tool for rearranging the board.
Advanced Strategy
Avoid burying useful cards under off-suit stacks. Before dealing from the stock, ensure you have a plan for every new face-up card. Use hints sparingly if you are chasing a high score.
Scoring
Games start at 500 points. Each move costs 1 point. Completing a same-suit King-to-Ace sequence awards 100 points. Optional undo and hint penalties are −2 and −5. Winning adds a difficulty and time bonus. Local best score, fewest moves, and best time are stored on your device.
