Read the rules firstDiamonds are trump, so the jack of hearts is trump too — the left bower. Both jacks carry a trump mark so the rule is visible rather than remembered.

Keyboard and screen reader ready
Arrow keys move across your hand, and every card announces its rank, suit, and whether you can play it.
Euchre in one minute
Euchre is a four-player trick-taking game for two partnerships, played with a 24-card deck of nines through aces. Each player is dealt five cards, one suit is named as trump, and the team that named it must take at least three of the five tricks. First partnership to ten points wins.
The bowers, which is where new players lose hands
Once trump is named, two cards outrank the ace of trump. The right bower is the jack of the trump suit and is the highest card in the game. The left bower is the jack of the other suit of the same colour, and it becomes a trump card for that hand — it stops being a member of its printed suit entirely. If spades are trump, the jack of clubs is a spade, and playing it when clubs are led does not follow suit.

Common questions
Is Euchre free on Utilnivo?
Yes. Play instantly in your browser against three computer players, with no download and no account.
What is the left bower?
The jack of the suit that shares a colour with trump. It counts as a trump card, not as a member of its printed suit, and it is the second-highest card in the hand. If hearts are trump, the jack of diamonds is a heart for that hand.
How does scoring work?
The team that names trump scores 1 point for three or four tricks and 2 for all five. If they take fewer than three they are euchred and the other team scores 2. Going alone and taking all five scores 4. First team to 10 wins.
What does going alone mean?
The player who named trump can bench their partner and play the hand three against one. All five tricks then score 4 points instead of 2, while three or four tricks still score only 1.
Does my progress save?
Your practice record and display preferences are saved locally on this device. Practice results never affect a rating or a leaderboard.
Can I play with a keyboard or a screen reader?
Yes. Arrow keys and the number keys 1 to 5 move across your hand, Enter selects a card and plays it, and every card announces its rank, suit, whether it is trump, and whether you may play it.
